With the placement of the third cluster at IIM-Ahmedabad getting over this weekend, the institute has now placed around three-fourths of its total students. Around 230 students are learnt to have been placed with some 60 companies that have visited the campus in three clusters so far, according to campus sources. 

Placement officials, however, have not disclosed either the number of students placed or companies visited. 

The third cluster included cohorts such as Indian banking services, financial advisory services and credit rating agencies. Companies that accompanied the cohorts included ICICI Bank, which made offers in double digits, becoming one of the largest recruiters on the campus so far. Other recruiters that visited the campus in the third cluster were ICRA, KPMG, Essar Group and Philips. They offered roles in finance, consulting, sales and marketing. ``So far, three-fourths students have been given job offers from 60-70 companies that visited the institute in the last three weeks,’’ said sources. 

The institute has changed the placement process from this year, adopting the cluster-based system wherein companies are invited in clusters each weekend, depending on the role and opportunities they offer. ``Recruiters are highly upbeat about their decision to hire at IIM-A.

The first cluster was dominated by financial sector and consulting firms, including favorite campus recruiters such as Bank of America-Merrill Lynch, McKinsey and BCG, among others. This was followed by Indian investment banks and global FMCG operations, which included companies such as Deloitte, TAS, Feedback Ventures, HUL, P&G, American Express, Standard Chartered and Nestle, among others.
